Erik Dunteman
I’m a founder and engineer focused on developer tools, cloud infrastructure, and AI.
Most notably, I built Banana, a serverless GPU platform serving production inference workloads for more than 3000 teams. Following Banana, I joined our former competitor Modal.
Now, I’m building Butter, a LLM response cache helping AI agents run faster, cheaper, and more reliably. We participated in the YC W25 batch and are hiring in-person in San Francisco.

Fun Stuff
- Endurance athletics. Most recently, I ran a 50 mile ultramarathon.
- Drumming. Mostly to nostalgic pop-punk anthems.
- The Zig programming language. I’ve spent the last two years deep diving into systems engineering, databases, virtualization, language runtimes, and more, and it’s been an absolute joy to use Zig wherever possible. Consider sponsoring.
- Side projects. Fun one being Internet Over Laser.
- My wife! In 2020 I moved to Mexico City expecting to stay for a month, but life had different plans for me. In that month I met a lovely lady, fell in love, and ended up staying for two years! We now live in San Francisco, and enjoy dancing salsa and cleaning the house on Sunday.
